On this day (October 30) in the year 1856, the following notice appeared
in the "Waltham Sentinel" (Mass.):
- - - - - - - - - -
OUR NEXT PRESIDENT.--The great question of who will be President, will
be decided on Tuesday next, and we would advise men of all parties to go
to Perry's and be daguerreotyped before that time; as after that, there
may be such a change in the countenances of some, that their most
intimate friends will scarcely recognize them.
Mr. Perry is so well known, further comment is unnecessary.
P.S.--We hope the result of the election will not cause a frown upon
the countenance of Mr. P.
