SUBJECT: Mary Agnew Taylor, the brilliant, ill-fated first wife of Bayard Taylor, author of “Eldorado.” She contracted tuberculosis while he traveled through California and Mexico. They married on October 24, 1850, she died on December 21. Woman brooch, seated on Elizabethian Revival chair.
