SUBJECT: “Taken at Paw Paw March 12th 1856 by Mrs. C. Day and presented by her to the ed. of the Free Press, Paw Paw. The Free Press office was on the 1st floor- Masonic Lodge room above I. W. Van Fossen ed. & Pub. of the FreePress-4th store of Van Fossen’s brick block occupied the same ground-north side of Main St.” Store with false facade / fronts. Signs: “Printing Office” “Paw Paw / Free Press” Groceries & Provisions” “Munger & Granger” “Cash for Hides.” Bird house on top of building.
