When made about 150 years ago, this image was overexposed and over-developed, causing a buildup of amalgam in the highlights. I recently copied it as a negative (using a light paper reflecting on it,) then re-reversed the resulting tones, and was able to recaptured the original image. In that copy-print I can see a line of trees behind the wagon and a great deal more detail of the road and the dog. |
